The world of Aultaevin is covered in and filled with numerous Ley Lines and Shade Courses - powerful flows of positive and negative magics that form a complex web. Even the smallest ley lines, like rivers of positive energy, exhibit far more potency than all but the most powerful shade courses, but are far less numerable. Many of the most famous cities and places of power were built on ley nodes, places where ley lines connect and converge, infusing the surrounding environment with natural positive magics. Shade courses, like ley lines, are powerful flows of magic. While ley lines are radiant rivers though, shade courses are like oily, polluted creeks - weak in current, but with potent waters. Long before the Profectus Sinfinis began constructing their Waygates, it is said that the peoples of ages past used to be able to use both ley lines and shade courses as a means of near instantaneous travel. Where the knowledge of how to perform theses feats was lost to, nobody knows.
