# Order of the Sandwalkers
Tiberu Rak-hor, the undead lich king who once ruled the entirety of [[Omon]], crazed by his necromantic magic, began craving power and control over the daily lives of his people. As his laws and regulations became tyrannical, his people became desperate for rebellion and salvation from his tortures.
This desperation was answered by group calling themselves the Sandwalkers, led by Amun Tat-Keraih, a nomad of the Soundless Expanse. The Sandwalkers worked in secrecy for many years, slowly building a resistance force before storming Tiberu’s stronghold near present-day Khanarkur. During the battle that occurred, the Sandwalkers lost a great portion of their fighters to Tiberu and his minions, until finally it was only Tiberu and Amun Tat-Kerah left in their final confrontation. After trading blows from dusk until dawn, Amun Tat-Kerah finally cut down Tiberu, though could not kill the man outright Amun took pity of Tiberu for the loss of his sanity and banished him to the Soundless Expanse.
The Sandwalkers remained as a group of elite warriors to protect the lands of Omon from other threats, working independently of the nations new governing body. They dispersed to all corners of the country to work independently, only coming together when called by their leader, who took the title Sandmarshall Amun Tat-Kerah, a title passed to his successors.
Members of the Order of the Sandwalkers are selected, not accepted. When a high-ranking member finds both martial prowess as well as an unwavering will in an individual, that individual is put through a series of tests, and if they pass, are given the opportunity to join in the Order. Members are required to give up all monetary gains for the provision of those in need, are not allowed to claim land or family, and must always be dressed in the distinct white and gold uniform of the Sandwalkers. Each also goes through a ritual in which their left hand is immersed into a bowl of scalding-hot sand. When it is removed, the hand is embedded with thousands of grains of sand, resembling sandpaper. This ritual has many functions in the Order of the Sandwalkers, such as a sort of communication device for the Sandmarshall to give orders over long distances, and as a focus for their sand-based magic.
